Overview
I am fondly looking forward to this school year. We are about to dive into some really fun topics and activities that will bring richness and an appreciation of the Spanish language to all of my students.
I will endeavor to create a positive and safe teaching environment in my classes for all of my students. My main goal is to empower the kids and make them successful through practice and hard work. I want them to explore this new language and to develop their Spanish speaking and comprehension skills to the fullest! To accomplish this requires a group effort. Students are expected to be courteous, kind, trustworthy, helpful, and respectful towards others. I will do the same. Any issues with regards to this matter will result in quick and appropriate action. The bottom line is that we are going to have a great year and everyone will learn some Spanish that they can in turn use in the community.

Class Expectations
There is an old saying that many of you may have heard before. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." The Golden Rule sums up what I expect from each of my students this year. Be kind and polite to one another in my class and expect the same form others.
In addition, students need to be on time. Turn in assignments on time to the best of your ability. Start work on time and be prepared for your assessments. Learning how to effectively manage your time will help you be very successful (and wealthier) in life.
All school rules will be followed and enforced in my class. Please review the Student handbook and the Student Code of Conduct and understand that I will follow those guidelines in my class.

Classwork
Warm-ups: At the beginning of each class a short activity will be on the board. This warm-up will be started at the tardy bell so I strongly encourage you to arrive to class on time and prepared. Little things like missing warm-ups can hurt your progress in class and you may miss out on some fun activities as well. I want all of you to get the most out of my Spanish 2 class as possible and this will require effort on your part but you will not be alone. I look forward to meeting and helping you through out this school year and I will see your bright and smiling faces in class.
All classwork will be monitored and recorded during class. I will be checking for understanding and proficiency while moving around the room. You are highly encouraged to ask questions and to volunteer as much as possible. I love hearing your questions and I DON'T CARE IF YOU MAKE MISTAKES!!! You WILL make mistakes and you will learn more from them than if you got everything right the first time. Plus you have humorous stories to share down the road. Speaking in the target language is the goal in my class and I encourage everyone to experiment using the things we learn as much as possible.
How do I track all of this participation in class?. In the grade book you will notice a weekly assignment titled Tengo Ánimo. This assignment will act as the vehicle from which I will track each of your progress in class. Please take a moment to familiarize your self with the Tengo Ánimo assignment. It is designed to increase your level of activity in class and to provide a fun way of doing it. I don't care if your Spanish is riddled with mistakes as long as I can get the general idea..
